Be the First ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces Young Investigator!

Submit your nomination today and become the first ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces Young Investigator!  The ACS Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry and ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces are proud to introduce the inaugural ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces Young Investigator Award. This annual award recognizes an early career individual’s contribution to applied research or technological development, and includes the broad scope of materials and interfaces and science and engineering covered by ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces.   The award recipient will receive $3,000, a plaque, free registration to the 2015 ACS Fall National Meeting in Boston, MA, and travel reimbursement up to $1500. The recipient will deliver a lecture on their work at a dedicated symposium at the ACS Fall National Meeting arranged by the ACS Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry.

Eligibility
This international award is intended to recognize global contributions of early-career scientists in academia, government, industry, or laboratories.
  • The following are ineligible for the award:
    • Members of the selection committee in the year the awardee is chosen
    • Editors-in-Chief and Associate Editors of ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces
  • A nominee must have earned his/her highest degree within 15 years of January 1 of the year of the award.
Submission Guidelines
Nominations for the 2015 ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces Young Investigator should include:
  • Nomination letter that provides insight into the impact of the individual’s research accomplishments and their relevance to applications. The letter should also address the ability of the nominee to give a dynamic lecture to a broad audience.
  • Seconding letter from another individual who is familiar with the nominee’s work.
  • 5-page CV that should include: education, appointments, honors and awards, a list of up to 25 relevant publications, short description of highlights of research activities.
  • Tentative ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces Young Investigator title and abstract (Note: ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces Young Investigators are expected to write a manuscript based on their lecture for publication in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces that is subject to peer review). The title and abstract provided for nomination will be used by the Editor-in-Chief of ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces as a tentative title and abstract for the basis of a Spotlight Applications article).
Selection Process
Winners will be selected by a two-member committee consisting of three individuals selected by the Editor-in-Chief of ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces and one selected by the Colloid and Surface Chemistry Division.
