Seeking Nominations for the 2019 James J. Morgan Early Career Award Lectureship

Environmental Science & Technology, Environmental Science & Technology Letters and the ACS Division of Environmental Chemistry are seeking nominations for the James J. Morgan Early Career Award. For 2019, the award will recognize a young investigator from Europe, the Middle East or Africa. One early career researcher from this region will receive the award based on research accomplishments impacting the disciplines covered by ES&T and ES&T Letters


Only authors ten years or less from receipt of their Ph.D. at the deadline for nominations for the Lectureship are eligible (e.g., nominees will have been awarded doctorates on August 1, 2008 or later).Nominations are invited from the global community of scientists and engineers who read and publish in Environmental Science & Technology and Environmental Science & Technology Letters. Self-nominations are permitted.

Each winner will receive:

  • An award plaque

  • $2000 USD

  • Travel expenses up to $2500 USD to attend the Spring 2019 ACS Spring National Meeting in Orlando, FL.

Nominations should include:

  • Name, affiliation, and e-mail address of the nominator

  • Nominee’s full CV

  • 2 letters of recommendation

  • 3 research articles from the post-Ph.D. period of independent research

  • The words “Morgan Award Nomination” should be in the title of the email

Nominations should be formatted into this order in one single PDF file. Separate files will not be accepted for nominations.

The winners will be announced in September 2018 and the award will be presented at the 2019 ACS Spring National Meeting in Orlando at a symposium featuring the awardee.
