ACS ES&T Toxicology: Inspire and Influence with ACS Publications.

NEW FROM ACS PUBLICATIONS

ACS ES&T Toxicology joins the ES&T family of journals.

ACS ES&T Toxicology publishes research understanding the effects of anthropogenic impacts and harmful substances on environmental and human health, ecosystems, and ecosystem services. It covers the intersection of human toxicology, ecotoxicology and risk assessment of chemicals. The scope covers how major anthropogenic pressures– chemical contamination, urbanization, food production, water and waste management, and climate change–affect biological systems across scales, from molecular and cellular responses to organisms, populations, and communities.

MEET THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

Prof. Dr. Beate Escher

"I’m delighted to be the first Editor for ACS ES&T Toxicology. My vision is for the journal to pioneer the use of data science and systems thinking to integrate toxicology and chemistry in order to protect planetary and human health amid accelerating environmental change. ACS ES&T Toxicology will sit at the intersection of environmental and human health, engaging in chemistry-oriented dialogue with environmental sciences, chemical risk assessment, ecology, public health and epidemiology."
Beate Escher is a renowned expert in chemical pollution and an advocate of new approach methodologies, uncovering how chemical mixtures, even at undetectable levels, collectively cause toxic effects in humans and the environment. Beate Escher is head of the Department of Cell Toxicology at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Leipzig, Germany, and professor at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen, Germany. She is also lecturer at ETHZ, Switzerland, holds an honorary professorship at the University of Queensland and an adjunct professorship at Griffith University, Australia. She serves on the Board of Reviewing Editors at Science and was Associate Editor for Environmental Science and Technology from 2012 to 2020. In 2023 she won the Outstanding Achievements in Environmental Science and Technology Award by ES&T and ES&T Letters and the ACS Division of Environmental Chemistry.
