Advances and Applications of ICP-MS - Food and Environmental Analysis

Duration: 60 minutes

Overview

This webinar will cover developments of ICP-MS from using helium collision mode through to using reaction cell technologies as employed in modern triple quadrupole instruments.  Helium mode is generally very effective in reducing polyatomic interferences across the mass range but at the expense of a reduction in analyte signal intensity.  Additionally, He mode is not effective for doubly charged interferences.  Use of reactions gases to either to shift the interference or to shift the analyte to a new m/z can be very effective in removing the interference and retaining analyte sensitivity and is effective for double charge interferences.

The webinar will also cover examples of extending the utility of ICP-MS through coupling of GC, LC and laser ablation with ICP-MS and through the use of enriched stable isotopes.  Applications for the speciation and spatial analysis of As, Cd, and Hg in food and environmental systems will be given.
