    Emerging contaminants, including perfluoroalkyl surfactants (PFAS) and Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products (PPCPs), have garnered increasing interest in recent years as their bioaccumulative nature and endocrine disrupting potential have become further understood. These contaminants present unique analytical challenges, with concentrations often present at low ng/mL (ppb) or pg/mL (ppt) ranges. Choosing an appropriate method, and utilizing superior instrumentation and accessories, can mitigate many of the challenges associated with emerging contaminant analysis.

    In this webinar, Field Application Scientists from PerkinElmer will discuss a number of topics relating to emerging contaminant analysis and workflow, including:
    • The use of on-line solid phase extraction (SPE) to improve sensitivity and productivity in sample enrichment and preparation, prior to LC/MS/MS analysis for PPCP compounds. This approach allows for significant/efficient analyte concentration, obviating the need for elaborate and time-consuming sample preparation procedures.
    • Analysis of PFAS compounds in drinking and surface water samples by LC/MS/MS, utilizing a direct injection workflow to achieve excellent sensitivity and specificity.
