POSTER SESSION

How should I prepare my poster?

Posters should be well-organized with clearly legible text and graphics from ~6 ft/2 m away. Blocks of paragraph text should be avoided in favor of bullet point style talking points and graphics. We recommend your poster does not exceed A0 (84.1 cm x 118.9 cm) and be in portrait orientation. All posters should include a title, name, and affiliation of the presenter (and collaborators).

Want to print your posters in Vienna? Local print office MBE Center is an 18 min walk from the University of Vienna.

What are the prizes for the poster sessions?

The top 6 poster presenters selected by the judges (who will be invited speakers and journal editors) will win a $100 USD cash prize each and receive a certificate. The cash prizes are sponsored by the participating ACS journals. Also, the fan-favorite poster presenter (voted by all registrants of the symposium) will receive a certificate.

How will the posters be judged for the prizes?

Judges will consider 6 main criteria for the prizes: understanding of the research problem, methodology, results & significance, oral presentation & response to questions, organization & flow, and appearance of text & graphics. Some tips to succeed are: read the literature related to the problem your research aims to solve; ensure all figures have appropriate axes, units, and legends; emphasize the significance of your work and the future impacts; ensure the poster is clear and legible; and practice presenting your poster to someone. Please note that to be eligible to win a poster session prize, all presenters must be physically present at their poster during their session.

Where and when do I put up my poster?

The poster session will be held in the Arkadenhof covered area facing the courtyard at the University of Vienna. Posters from all sessions may be setup starting at 7:00 (7 AM) CEST on Wednesday 31 July 2024 and removed by 19:00 (7 PM) on Thursday 1 August 2024. Please find the number assigned to your poster and use the Velcro/tacks to attach your poster. Presenters may leave their posters set up overnight the night of Wed 31 July if they choose to do so.

What poster session am I in?

All poster presenters will receive an email with their poster number and session details. Poster numbers are listed on the Poster Presenters page. Each poster session will last 30 minutes and blend into a 1-hour networking lunch or reception.

When will abstract submissions open, and what is the deadline?

Abstract submissions opened on January 8, 2024 and will close on May 15, 2024.
The Scientific Organizing Committee will contact all those who submit by May 31, 2024 with selection results.

I need my poster abstract accepted earlier for visa/other purposes.
