MEET THE EDITORS

Dr. Thomas F. Hofmann, Editor-in-Chief

Dr. Hofmann obtained his doctorate and completed his postdoctoral studies in the Chemistry Department of Technische Universität München. Prof. Hofmann was appointed as Professor and Director of the Food Chemistry Institute at Münster University in 2002. In 2007, he returned to Technische Universität München to serve as the newly established Chair of Food Chemistry and Molecular Sensory Science. Dr. Hofmann currently serves in this role as Professor and Chair at the Center of Life and Food Sciences Weihenstephan, Technische Universität München in Germany. He also serves as Senior Vice-President for Research and Innovation at Technische Universität München.

Dr. Hofmann's research explores the screening, identification and quantification of organoleptic and bioactive natural products in foodstuffs and raw materials of vegetable origin. He is also interested in the metabolism and structure-activity relationships of these compounds.
