We invite you to submit your work on chemical safety now. First ASAP articles will appear online in December 2019. To show our commitment to safety within the chemistry ecosystem, access these other important resources from ACS. Then, submit your information for future articles and updates from
ACS Chemical Health & Safety.

Through their mission to, “…provide authoritative technical resources and mentorship in chemical health and safety for all”, this Division of the ACS supports safety in the chemistry enterprise.

"The Committee on Chemical Safety (CCS) promotes and facilitates safe practices in chemical activities. We provide advice and counsel to ensure safety by calling attention to potential hazards and stimulating education in safe chemical practices. CCS also serves as a resource to other ACS units on matters related to chemical safety and health."

These resources from ACS will familiarize you with the fundamentals of hazard assessment; guide you through preparation practices such as scoping and assembling your team; offer a number of ways to conduct hazard assessments; and provide tools (e.g., templates, examples, etc.) that can be shared with your team and used immediately.

Any effective Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) program is a partnership between individual chemistry professionals and the organizations for which they work. Partners should have clear expectations of each other. To that end, ACS has outlined the following expectations, roles, and responsibilities for chemistry professionals and their organizations.

ACS Webinars connect you with subject experts and global thought leaders in chemical sciences, management, and business on relevant professional issues. A number of webinars touch upon chemical safety, such as the recent Lab Safety for Researchers: Responsibilities, Regulations, and Lessons Learned, featuring Editor-in-Chief, Mary Beth Mulcahy and Development Editor, Kali Miller.
By opting in, you may receive emails from ACS Publications which we believe are relevant to you. You can opt out of these at any time.
