ACS ActiveView PDF is an enhancement to the PDF version of ACS articles that combines the interactivity of HTML with the readability of PDF. This interactive format offers your library users a better reading experience, as they seek to read the thousands of scientific articles available in ACS Publications’ extensive portfolio of leading peer-reviewed journals.
The latest iteration incorporates several new features that improve the research experience for your users and improves the value of your ACS subscription. ACS ActiveView PDF is now based on HTML5 technology instead of Adobe Flash, making it compatible with all desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. This means it can offer improved table and figure navigation, as well as higher resolution for images and faster loading speeds – even on slow network connections.
Users will continue to be able to add highlights and notes to ACS journal articles of interest, as well as performing keyword searches within articles, making it easier than ever to find and mark important and relevant information. There are accessible navigation links to background information and references, and users can also preview the abstracts of cited papers via the CAS SciFinder®-powered Reference QuickView, so they can check supporting information without losing their place in the article of interest. ACS ActiveView PDF can also be added to ACS ChemWorx, making both offerings accessible from multiple devices.
At present these improved features are available on most articles published in 2015. The features will be rolled out over the course of this year to all articles published in 2010 and later.
