ACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering | 2018 Lectureship Award Winners

Congratulations to the 2018 Recipients of the ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering Lectureship Award!

We are delighted to announce the three winners of the 2018 ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering Lectureship Award. These awards recognize the research contributions of scientists in three geographical regions, working in green chemistry, green engineering and sustainability in the chemical enterprise, who have completed their academic training within the past 10 years.

The winners are:

Prof. Rafael Luque

Prof. Rafael Luque
University of Cordoba

For Europe/Middle East/Africa, Prof. Rafael Luque of the University of Cordoba honored for his work on mechanochemical, solventless synthesis of nanomaterials for heterogeneously catalyzed applications and flow processes, and his work on converting biomass to valuable chemicals.

Prof. Ning Yan

Prof. Ning Yan
National University of Singapore

For Asia/Pacific, Prof. Ning Yan of National University of Singapore honored for pioneering the “Waste Shell Biorefinery” concept, including catalyst and process development for converting chitin based materials, as well as lignocellulose, and waste cooking oil, into fuels and chemicals

Prof. Fengqi You

Prof. Fengqi You
Cornell University

For the Americas, Prof. Fengqi You of Cornell University honored for his contributions in process systems engineering, sustainability analytics, and life cycle optimization of supply chains.

In partnership with the ACS Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Division and ACS Cellulose & Renewable Materials Division, the winners will be honored in a symposium at the 255th ACS National Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, March 18-22, 2018.

Please join us in New Orleans!

We thank the community of scientists devoted to sustainable chemistry and engineering for the enthusiastic response to our second call for lectureship award nominations. Details of the next award cycle will be available in Spring 2018 or by sending inquiries to Award.ACSSustainable@acs.org.
